Foley, Sound Recording, Mixing, Editing and Design

Chap Lau is a radio play that follows the stories of some of the residents of the kampong to see how they are affected by resettlement and how they adjust to city living. It looks at the socioeconomic problems in the ‘60s like earning a living, housing and fitting into society. It also features common social groupings like hawkers selling food door to door, tontines and night classes. There are 10 episodes, each between 10-15 minutes long, available in English and Mandarin.

Chap Lau is presented by The Glowers Drama group, directed by Liow Shi Suen and written by Peggy Ferroa. Additional consultation was provided by Catherine Sng. Music was composed by Julian Wong and audio engineers were Kai Loh and Dawson Lim. We would like to thank the following for making the production of Chap Lau possible: The National Arts Council and Temasek Trust Oscar@sg. Production support was provided by ITE HNITEC in Performance Production & ITE Centre for Music & The Arts.
